Powell Selected For The West Indies A Team Tour Of Sri Lanka

Pulse News,  (September 8th, 2016 ) – The Leeward Islands Hurricanes are forced to readjust their strategies and game plan totally.  With the 2016/2017 Professional Cricket League (PCL) slated to bowl off later this year,  they will lose five players due to their selection in the West Indies A squad.  


Nevisian bright spark Keiran Powell, Antiguan all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall and Anguillan wicketkeeper Jahmar Hamilton have all been selected for the West Indies A team’s tour of Sri Lanka starting later this month.

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes will be without the services of  Antiguan fast bowler Alzarri Joseph as he has been selected for the ODI squad for the first time.  Further,  Trinidadian batsman Nicholas Pooran has also been selected for duty in the T20 squad.

A sixth Leeward Islands player, Anguillan Montcin Hodge, has been placed on standby for the A Team.


West Indies will tour Pakistan starting September 20 while the ODI tour starts 10 days later.

According to an article posted by Antigua observer, Coach of the Leeward Islands team, Reginald Benjamin, was understandably happy with the developments.
