Basseterre, St. Kitts, Tuesday 29th March, 2016 – Cricket is seemingly seeing a resurgence as a New Leedward Islands Cricket Board seeks to up the stakes and have more inter-island games in the different territories. As such an Under 15, an Under 19 and a men’s tournament is slated for the months of March and April respectively.
The Under-15 tournament began in St. Kitts over the Easter weekend and will run till April 4. In the opening games, St. Kitts engaged Antigua while Nevis engaged Montserrat. Both St. Kitts and Montserrat were victorious.
Scores in the games were as follows:
Antigua batting first scored 81 all out off of 17.4 overs. Demari Benta scored 15 and T-ron Payne scored 13.
Tyrique Huggins picked up 4/29 while Ashawn Browne picked up 2/15. St. Kitts in return reached their target in 25.2 overs. Quaniquy Phillip scored 43 and Ashawn Browne remained on 8*. Final score 82/6. Rashid Henry and Demetri Lucas were the pick of the bowlers for Antigua as they secured three and one wicket respectively.
In the other encounter, Montserrat in their alloted 50/overs posted a total of 195/9. Clinton Reece and Aldal Livan top scored with Forty One (41) each. For Nevis Kyan Bussue and Carlon Tuckett got three (3) and two (2) wickets respectively. Nevis however fell short in their run chase as they were only able to score 135 all out in 35.4 overs. Carlon Tuckett topscored with 31 while Vickram Raybeer scored 27. For Montserrat, Adel Livan picked up 4/23.
