Successful Indoor Season For Coach Greene And Monroe Mustangs: Greene Named 2016 National Women’s Assistant Coach Of The Year

SKN PULSE, Basseterre Saint Kitts–  The accolades continue to pile up for Nevisian Mr. Shirvon Greene, the Current Assistant Coach at Monroe College as he has been named 2016 National Women’s Assistant Coach Of The Year.

Just as recent as last week, he was named 2016 Men & Women Atlantic Region Assistant Coach  of the Year for the 2016 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Season, such an announcement came on Tuesday 1st March 2016 when the inaugural class of Region Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2016 NJCAA indoor track & field season were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as voted on by the NJCAA’s coaches.

Coach Greene’s Profile is as follows:

Position: Indoor Track and Field Assistant Coach.
Credentials: USATF Level 2 Certification 
School: Monroe College.
Team: Mustangs
Region: Atlantic

Mr. Shirvon Greene is a middle-distance coach in his eighth year at Monroe College and is winning the prestigious award for the first time. According to USTFCCCA web release on Wednesday 9 March, 2016, Coach Greene played a key role in Monroe’s third-place NJCAA team standings finish, at the Indoor Championships in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Further it stated that, his athletes accounted for three national titles and two more third-place efforts for 42 of Monroe’s 92 points.

Susan Ejore had a hand in those three titles with wins at 1000 meters and in the mile, and the anchor leg of the winning distance medley relay. Moreover, Nokuthula Diamini finished third both at 3000 and 5000 meters, and ran the opening leg of the DMR.

During a brief interview with Mr. Greene, he stated, “I’m very humbled by this accomplishment. He further lamented, none of this would have been possible without the grace of God, my wonderful athletes and my support base.”
