Coach Greene Receives 2016 Award Honours

Nevisian Mr. Shirvon Greene and Current Coach at Monroe College has been named 2016 Men & Women Atlantic Region Assistant Coach  of the Year for the 2016 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Season. Such an announcement came on Tuesday 1st March 2016 when the inaugural class of Region Athletes and Coaches of the Year for the 2016 NJCAA indoor track & field season were announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as voted on by the NJCAA’s coaches.

Coach Greene’s Profile is as follows:

Position: Indoor Track and Field Assistant Coach.
Credentials: USATF Level 2 Certification 
School: Monroe College.
Team: Mustangs
Region: Atlantic

Mr. Shirvon Greene is a middle-distance coach in his ninth year at Monroe College and is winning the prestigious award for the second year in a row. On Thursday 3 March 2016, while Coach Greene and Mustangs Track Team were actively on meet duty in Winston-Salem North Carolina, a ceremony was held and the various awards were presented.

According to Greene receiving the award this year was much more special than 2015 as two of his Athletes were awarded for Athletes Of The Year respectively. Jaymes Dennison, (Men’s Athlete Of The Year) and Susan Ejore, (Women’s Athlete Of The Year).

Coach Greene when asked about the announcement, emphasized “I am content, my hardwork has paid off.” He further explained that because he has a passion for Track and Field his greatest joy comes from the accomplishments of his athletes.

Coach Greene opined that, his coaching career is still young and that the road to success will be filled with many more accolades.

Through this medium Mr. Shirvon Greene wishes to express thanks first and foremost to the almighty God, his athletes, colleagues, family, friends and well-wishers for their words of encouragement.
