ICC World Cup Cricket – Anxiety, jitters, anticipation and excitement are just a few words that stand out during the final encounter with West Indies and India at Dhaka.

Fans, cricketers and sportscasters alike  made bold predictions but at the end of it all, the West Indies team are the 2016 ICC Under 19 World Cup Cricket Champions.

After winning the toss, the West Indies captain Shimron Hetmyer elected to bowl first on the prepared green pitch. His decision ultimately proved to be the right one as India loss their first wicket in the first over via a run out. From there on in, the West Indians exhibited confidence as they executed their game plan with perfection. The Indians were bowled out in 45.1 overs. They ammased a total of 145 all out. The standout batsman for India SN Khan scored a half century and concluded his run in the tournament with the highest total of runs scored.

Keacy Carty and Keemo Paul guided the West Indies team to victory after a rocky start from the West Indians. After being positioned at 77/5 with some excellent bowling from Mayank Dagar who collecred 3 for 25, Carty and Paul steered the West Indies to victory with 3 balls to spare and 5 wickets remaining. Their partnership was worth 69 with with Keacey being 52 not out and Paul 40 not out.

Man of the honours went to Mr. Keacy Carty.

A West Indian victory meant that India has lost a Youth ODI for the first time since their quarterfinal exit of the same tournament in 2014 while the West Indies won their first ICC Under 19 Cup.
