Ruby Chapman Cup Gains Momentum: Match Updates.

Charlestown, Nevis, November, 22, 2015 – The Multi-gender Cricket tournament held by the Building Bridges Sports and Social Club and sponsored by Lefco, Turtle Time and Dr. Terrance Drew kicked off at the Elquemedo Willett Park on Saturday 14th 2015 with the first official game of the tournament been bowled at 7:30 (pm). The featured teams were SDA JETS vs Big Rock and the umpires were Ms. Catherine Caines and Mr. Errol Somersall.

Big Rock batted first and amassed a total of 38 all out. The JETS in response reached their target within three overs. Venrick Newton of the JETS top scored with 24 not out while his opening partner Curtis Morton scored an unbeaten 15. Games continued on the 21st of November with Big Rock coming up against Togetherness. Big Rock were awarded the two points since a full Togetherness team failed to show.

An exhibition game was organised to entertain the crowd in which Subramarni’s 7 played against Carlos’s 7. In that game Subramarni’s 7 made 104 in their alloted 10 overs while Carlos’s 7 in reply scored 78 in their alloted 10 overs. Building Bridges would like to thank Big Rock Cricket Club and the St. Thomas’s young men for providing entertainment for the crowd while they waited for the start of the second game.

At about 8:10 the the second game began between SDA JETS and DSC Easterns. Umpires for the game were Mr. Rohan Isles and Ms. Catherine Caines. Easterns batted first and scored 54-4 in their alloted 10 overs. Opening batsman Sylvester Hobson topscored with 18 not out while Sheldon Brown scored 15. O. Walters of the SDA JETS picked up 3 wickets. SDA JETS in response reached their target in 4 overs. Their final score was 60-3. Walters again featured in the second innings after top scoring with 19 not out.

Games will continue on the 5th of December at the Elquemedo Willett Park.
