SKN PULSE, Tuesday 26th May 2015 – As the fifteenth murder rocked the village of Mount Lily in the wee hours of Monday morning last week, law enforcement officials were left scrambling for clues to quell the fear that exists. With there hands already full, a robbery on Monday 18th May 2015 created a media frenzy as word of the unfortunate incident was quickly disseminated on social media.
Since then, the robbery at Rams (Bird Rock, Saint KItts) on Friday 22nd May, 2015 and the Shooting Incident that occurred on Sunday 24th May 2015 which left popular football player Sheldon Lawrence hospitalized set the tone for an active crime spree weekend. Such incidents are indicative of the constant crime situation that plagues Saint KItts And Nevis.
While gun violence and robberies have been the two known constants that have proven to be a mystery for The Royal Saint Christopher and Nevis Police Force, it is evident that they have failed to comprehensively tackle either of the two. With the recent delinquent acts namely the robbery of Rituals at Frigate Bay and the Shooting Incident of a young Cayon resident, (Jason Morton) at a National Bank ATM Machine in the vicinity of TDC Home Depot on Frigate Bay Road, the work loads for officers have been piling at rapid speeds thus far for 2015.
Sadly, while the crime spree continues the detection rate is at an all time low as police have not been able to apprehend criminals.
