SKN PULSE, Sunday 9th November, 2014 – The Mustang Men & Women not only showed up but took care of business in a huge way. Their team comprised of a contingent of 6 males and 6 females who journeyed to Lubbock Texas to take part in the Annual NJCAA Cross Country Championships. This is regarded as one of the biggest meets for the entire season with over 500 athletes who represent over 100 track teams. Prior to the meet Coach Greene predicted that history will be made when its all said and done and once again he was on point with his prediction.
Synopsis of Male Performances:
As the day unfolded, competiton was tense as 101 teams fought for bragging rights. The Mustang Men however placed 12th overall as a team. The highest place the team has ever finished at this event. Top finishers for the men were as follows:
Katleho Dyoyi finished 17th overall out of 256 and also earned All American Honors in the Process becoming the first Mustang Cross Country runner in Mustang history to do so. In addition Dyoyi’s time of 25:35, is now the New School National Meet record.
Mpho-Makofane was the 2nd Mustang Male to finish. In a time of 26:42.

Synopsis of Female Performaces:
The Mustang Women also turned in superb performances.The Female Team placed 22nd overall. To Coach Greene, this is a very incredible achievement due to the fact that this is the first time in history that there was a full Female Mustang Team. The top finishers for the Female were as follows.
Chelsea Edwards who finished 45th overall in a time of 19:19, which is a New School Record.
Atara Segree was the 2nd Women Mustang to finish in a time of 19:53 .

Coach Greene expressed that he was very proud of both teams for the way they executed on race day. He further stated that each athlete achieved a goal in their own right and have every reason to be proud of what they have accomplished as a team. Moreover, he lamented that “this was our Main Goal for this season and I must say we achieved it and more; We came we saw and we conquered.” In extending appreciation to the fans he stated “I would like to take this opportunity to thank not only the Monroe Community for the overwhelming support but also the Mustang Track Nation on a hold as well.” Added to this he remarked “I would also like to say thank you to each of the coaches who helped throughout the season as well and last but definitely by no means least, the Athletes with out you this feat would have never been possible.”
Accomplishments under Coach Greene include:
– Men and Women Regional Title Holders for 2014.
– Highest ranking at National Championships.
– Athlete earning All American Honors under his guidance.
The next major event would be the Indoor Season Opener which is slated for January 2015. Thus the team will get some time off to unwind and channel their energies on their next major feat.
